KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island head coach David Coach will offer three sessions in the first year for the David Cox Basketball Camps. There will be two Day Camps – held from July 9-13 and July 23-27 – and a Father/Son Camp in July 9.
The Day Camp sessions are designed to be more instructive and competitive for campers in grades 2-8. Campers will participate in drills and games with current URI players and staff, and they will learn skills to prepare them for middle school and high school basketball. Each participant will receive a URI Basketball T-Shirt. Lunch will be available for sale. Cost for the Day Camp sessions are $275 per camper, and sessions run from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily.
For the Father/Son Camp on July 9, participants will spend one day with Coach Cox and the URI basketball staff and players. Father and son teams will compete with fellow campers of appropriate age groups (based on son's age/grade level) in competitions that incorporate skills learned throughout the camp. The skill work is designed to give both father and son drills and techniques to take home and continue working on together. Each Father/Son tandem will get a picture with Coach Cox and a URI Basketball T-Shirt. The camp is open to students in grades K-6. The cost is $200 per father/son pair, plus $75 for each additional child.
