Jason Foster Signs With Oakland Raiders

KINGSTON, R.I. - Former Rhode Island offensive lineman Jason Foster is getting another shot in the NFL after he signed with the Oakland Raiders practice squad Wednesday, the team announced Wednesday.

To make room for Foster, the Raiders released cornerback Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, a former fourth-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys. Foster originally signed as an undrafted free agent with the Indianapolis Colts and went to training camp with the team, but was cut in August. After visiting Rhode Island last weekend for Homecoming, Foster returned to Oakland for a workout earlier this week, and officially joined the team today.

A second-team All-CAA selection in 2011, Foster was a four-year starter for the Rams. A team captain during his senior season, Foster manned the left tackle spot from the time he arrived as a freshman. He was a two-time all-conference honoree at tackle, but is a guard for the Raiders, and has been assigned jersey No. 62, according to his player profile on Raiders.com.

Foster joins former Rhody teammate Matt Hansen in the NFL. Hansen is with the Atlanta Falcons, the organization that signed him as an undrafted free agent a year ago.
