KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island will play at Virginia Tech during the 2019 football season, adding a second FBS opponent to the team's schedule.
The Rams - who open next season at Ohio on Aug. 31 - will travel to Blacksburg, Va. to take on the Hokies on Oct. 12. It will be the second time Rhode Island visits Virginia Tech. The first came back in 1980, when the Hokies defeated the Rams 34-7. The game against Ohio will be the first in program history.
The conference portion of Rhode Island's schedule also is confirmed. The Rams will host Delaware (Sept. 7), Stony Brook (Sept. 28), Elon (Oct. 26) and James Madison (Nov. 23) next fall. Rhody will travel to face New Hampshire (Sept. 21), Albany (Oct. 19), William & Mary (Nov. 9) and Maine (Nov. 16).
