KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island will host Merrimack in football next fall, finalizing a 12-game schedule for the Rams in 2019.

URI will host Merrimack on Saturday, Nov. 2. It will be the second meeting ever between the schools, and the first since 2006. That year, the Rams won, 42-7.

Merrimack announced in September that it is making the transition to Division I to become part of the Northeast Conference. The Warriors will begin the four-year reclassification process during the 2019-20 school year before becoming a full member of the Northeast Conference in 2023-24.

In order to make the Merrimack game possible, a planned series with Bryant – also a member of the Northeast Conference – will be delayed. Rhode Island and Bryant have agreed to push the start of its 10-year home-and-home series to 2020, when the Rams will visit Bryant. The Bryant series will run opposite Rhody's other yearly in-state rivalry with Brown.

Rhode Island will play 12 games for the first time since 2014, its first season under Jim Fleming. The Rams will play seven road games and five at Meade Stadium. Rhody is coming off its first winning season in 17 years.
