KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhody women's basketball is set to depart for the program's first foreign tour to Portugal and Spain a week from today. The Rams will spend August 10-19 exploring the countries while also playing three games against Portuguese and Spanish opponents.
"This foreign tour could not have come at a better time," head coach Daynia La-Force said. "Our players are eager to learn about different cultures and will bond with the experiences they will share. It will set the tone for our season in that we will have bonded in unfamiliar territory and come out victorious in so many ways. We are so grateful to our administration and everyone who contributed to making this opportunity happen."
The tour begins on Friday, August 10 with a flight from Boston to Lisbon arriving the morning of August 11. The Rams will have the next few days to explore Portugal before facing the Lisbon All-Stars on August 13 and the Belem All-Stars on the 14. They will travel to Barcelona for sightseeing and the final game of the tour on August 17 against the Barcelona All-Stars.
The team will take a flight out of Lisbon and return to the United States on August 19.
