How it Happened
The Rams could not keep up with a strong offensive effort by Massachusetts Sunday afternoon, as they fell 56-34 to the Minutewomen.

Rhody (7-16, 2-9 A-10) started the game 0-for-4 from the field, getting their first field goal at 6:34 on a Nicole Jorgensen layup. Another Jorgensen layup less than a minute later got the Rams within two (7-5) but that was as close as they could get for the rest of the game. The Minutewomen (13-11, 5-5 A-10) used a 12-0 run to establish a 14-point lead with 1:23 remaining of the first quarter and entered the second period up 20-7.

The balanced scoring and defensive effort continued for Massachusetts in the second quarter of play. The Minutewomen held Rhode Island without a field goal for the final 4:35 of the period and continued to do damage on the offensive end gong on a 5-0 run to push its lead to 16 going into halftime.

Massachusetts was able to close the game in the second half, leading by as many as 26 points in the fourth. Rhody's first points in the fourth quarter came at the 2:46 mark after a successful trip to the free throw line for Jalissa Ross. Jorgensen scored six points in the final 1:09 to play but it wasn't enough as the Rams dropped their seventh straight contest.
