Rams Host In-State Rival Brown Tuesday; Head to Dayton This Weekend

KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island (6-27, 3-11 A-10) has a busy week ahead, hosting in-state rival Brown for a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon before heading to Dayton for a three-game conference series this weekend.

When the Rams host Brown tomorrow afternoon at the URI Softball Complex, it will be the first time the teams will face each other since 2013. It also will be a matchup of two teams working to right the ship. Rhode Island has dropped its last eight games, while Brown (11-24) has lost five in a row. Rhode Island leads the all-time series, 34-22, and has won five of the last six games between the schools.

This weekend, the Rams head to Dayton looking to stay alive for the Atlantic 10 playoffs. With nine games remaining on the conference schedule, Rhode Island trails Saint Louis by three games for the final postseason spot.

Dayton (23-18, 10-4 A-10) plays a doubleheader at Akron before welcoming Rhody to town. The Flyers have won seven straight A-10 contests after stumbling to a 3-4 mark early in league play. Dayton has won four straight in the series, with Rhode Island's last victory coming in a 4-2 win in 2014. Dayton leads the overall series, 25-18-1.
