How it Happened
After four scoreless innings, Middle Tennessee score two runs in the bottom of the fifth and added four more in the sixth en route to a 6-0 win over Rhode Island on the final day of the EMU Madeira Beach Invitational Sunday.
Rhody (1-8) was blanked for the first time this season, as the Rams got just two runners into scoring position on the day. In the second inning, Caileigh Holland laced a triple down the right field line, but was stranded on third base.
The Rams got the first two runners on base in the top of the fourth when Emily Zembik reached on an error and Erica Robles followed with a single. A fielder's choice and a line out that turned into a double play ended the potential rally.
