How It Happened

It was a successful opening day at the Quinnipiac Invitational, with Rhode Island tennis players posting a 4-3 record in singles play and 3-3 in doubles action.

Ariel Haber won all three of her competitions on Friday, earning a victory in a tiebreaker over Maia Balce from Fordham after dropping the first set. Haber teamed with Nicole Legler to win both of their doubles matches in the B flight to advance to the semifinals tomorrow.

Mihaela Codreanu and Rachel Smilansky each captured a straight set victory in A singles play, while newcomer Halah Davis also battled to a tiebreaker set for a victory in C singles action.
