How it Happened
Butler claimed the doubles point, defeating Rhode Island 6-1 at both the second and third positions. The Bulldogs then sealed the victory by winning four of five singles matches and picking up an additional point when URI forfeited at the sixth position.

Sophomore Rachel Smilansky posted Rhody's lone win of the day, defeating Butler's Rachel Sutton (6-2, 6-3) and evening the match at 1-1. However, the Bulldogs won the remaining singles matches for the eventual 6-1 victory.
