Codreanu Wins at No. 2 Singles, but Rams Fall to Saint Joseph's

How It Happened
Sophomore Mihaela Codreanu won in straight sets at No. 2 singles and also paired with Ariel Haber for a victory at No. 1 doubles, but it wasn't enough as Rhode Island fell to Saint Joseph's 6-1 Saturday.

Codreanu defeated Maureen Devlin 6-1, 6-1 to give Rhody (1-14) its lone team point of the day. Codreanu and Haber knocked off Amanda Nava and Isis Gill-Reid 7-6 (7-4) at No. 1 doubles. It was the second win for Codreanu and Haber together in three matches at the top doubles spot.

Haber also gave Rhode Island a strong effort at No. 3 singles. She took Laura Gomez to three sets before falling 1-6, 6-4, 6-3. Sophomore Rachel Smilansky also battled to three sets at No. 1 singled for the Rams before she was defeated by Nava, 6-3, 5-7, 6-1.
