Rams Head to Cambridge to Compete in Beantown Challenge

Kingston, R.I. - The Rhode Island women's track team will continue their 2017-18 indoor season after more than a month away from the track when they head to Cambridge, Mass. for the Beantown Challenge hosted by Harvard on Saturday, January 13. 

The meet is scheduled to begin on Saturday with field events beginning at 11:00 a.m. and running events at 12:35 p.m. Along with Harvard, the Rams are set to face Boston College, Northeastern, Stonehill, UMass Amherst and UMass Lowell. 

The competition on Saturday will be streaming live on the Ivy League Digital Network with coverage beginning at 11:00 a.m.

  • Kristina MacLure placed third today in her Pentathlon debut with a score of 3408 points. The sophomore finished first in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.06 seconds and first in the 800m with a time of 2:24.21 seconds, both personal bests.
  • Senior Kylie McPherson finished fifth with a score of 3245 points. She posted personal best marks in the shot put (30'11 1/4") and the long jump (17'9 1/2). McPhersons' score is 315 points better than her score in the 2016 URI Pentathlon.
  • Senior Karlee Fowler finished eleventh with with 2668 points. Fowlers' 9.55 seconds time in the 60m hurdles is a personal best. She finished the 800m with a 2:44.14 seconds time.
