Hi Rhody, I'm back this week with Sam Roberts! A senior right side hitter from Merced, California, Sam has been a huge contributor to the Rhody Volleyball program. Let's get to know her a bit better, and find out about her big plans now that volleyball is over!
MG: What got you started playing volleyball?
SR: I was a swimmer for the longest time but when my mom – who also played volleyball in college - came home with volleyball one day, I was hooked.
MG: Reflecting on these last few years, what has been your favorite part of going to school at URI?
SR: My favorite part of going to URI is how many amazing people I've met. I am so blessed to have met such wonderful people that I will continue to talk to in the years to come.
MG: This season came to a close much faster then I ever thought it would! What are you looking forward to most now that the daily grind of volleyball is over?
SR: Next semester I am studying abroad in Italy! I've never left the country before, so I'm really excited to see as much as I can.
MG: What has been your favorite part of senior year so far?
SR: I think my favorite part of my time this year has been getting the chance to see my family so often and show them all of my favorite parts of Rhody. It's such a cool place here, there's always somewhere new to go!
MG: After all of these years, countless flights back and forth from California, practices in Keaney, and "Rhode trips", what are you going to miss most about being a member of Rhody volleyball?
SR: I'm really going to miss traveling with the team. It was so fun getting to go to so many cool places with everyone. Rooming together, playing in gyms all over the country, and seeing so much with everyone is something I'll never forget.
MG: I can say I officially have no set plans for after graduation, with that said, what is your rough plan for after graduation?
SR: I'm so excited that I'll be back from Italy in time to graduate with everyone! I'm hopeful I can find a job while I'm away. I can't wait to see where post-college life takes me!
Sam is sure to be very successful in the future, just like she has been at Rhody, and will be abroad. I can't wait to hear all about her travels!
Until next time…
