KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island has earned the No. 3 seed at the 2021 Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship and will take on No. 2 Dayton in the opening round on Thursday, May 27.
Rhode Island and Dayton will play in the second game of the tournament, which is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. first pitch at The Stadium in Richmond, Va. The opening game of the tournament will pit top-seeded host VCU against No. 4 Saint Joseph's. The Hawks clinched the final postseason spot in the final game of the A-10 regular season when it defeated La Salle, 5-2.
With the double-elimination format of the tournament, the losing teams of the first two games of the tournament will play a win-or-go-home contest Thursday night at 7 p.m.

VCU is the defending league champion and has won two of the last three championships, doing so in 2019 and 2017. Rhode Island last won the tournament in 2016.
Spectators will be permitted at the A-10 Baseball Championship. Tickets are general admission, but there will be seating pods throughout the stadium to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
All games in the tournament will be streamed on ESPN+.
