KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island women's rowing team finished second at the 2023 Atlantic 10 Championship on Friday afternoon at Fish Creek in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., wrapping up the competition with 49 team points.
George Washington, which entered the final event of the day tied with the Rams in the standings, crossed the line first in the Varsity 8+ to secure the title.Â
Rhody had begun the scoring portion of the finals with a thrilling win, as the crew of

Lily Stasaitis won the Varsity 4+ race by open water. The Rams (8:54.2) were followed by Duquesne (9:07.8) and George Washington (9:13.6).Â
The Colonials responded with their first triumph in the following event, the Second Varsity 8+, holding off second-place Rhody. Coxswain

With the loss, Rhode Island's season comes to an end as George Washington has claimed the Atlantic 10's automatic qualifier spot for the NCAA Championship.
In addition to the team's successful second-place finish, the Rams were well-represented on the All-Conference squads as four different rowers secured spots. Both
Julia Fortin and
Catie Castle represented Rhody on the First Team, while the duo of
Nicole Jones and
Hailey Pardi received Second Team Nods.Â
