KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island Football was ranked in the final Stats Perform Top 25 and AFCA Coaches Poll, coming in at No. 9 and No. 11.
The Rams, who captured the 2024 CAA Football Championship title, received an at-large bid to the 2024 FCS Championship as the No. 10 seed. Rhody defeated Central Connecticut State 21-17 in the first round before falling 17-10 at No. 7 Mercer.

Jim Fleming led Rhode Island to a program-best 11 wins, the most in 129 seasons of URI Football. He was named the New England Football Writer's Association Division I Coach of the Year after helping the Rams to their first playoff appearance in 39 years. URI has recorded five straight winning seasons for the first time in program history.
At the end of the season, the Rams received a slew of All-American honors from the Associated Press, Stats Perform and Phil Steele. Linebacker
A.J. Pena was a First Team AP All-American and received similar honors from the other two organizations. Wide receiver
Marquis Buchanan was a Second Team Stats Perform All-American and landed on Phil Steele's Fourth Team. The AP awarded running back
Malik Grant Honorable Mention All-American accolades.
Rhode Island was the highest-ranked CAA Football team in the Stats Perform Top 25, followed by No. 12 Villanova, No. 15 Richmond, No. 23 New Hampshire and RV Stony Brook (59). The AFCA had Villanova at No. 9, Richmond at No. 16 and UNH at No. 24, with the Seawolves receiving 15 votes.
The 2025 season will begin at Meade Stadium on Friday, Aug. 29 opposite conference foe Campbell.
