ORLANDO, Fla. - Rhode Island's football program was recognized by the FCS Athletics Directors Association for achieving the greatest single-year Academic Progress Rate among CAA Football programs for the 2017-18 academic year.
Director of Athletics Thorr Bjorn was presented with the plaque during the 10th annual FCS Athletics Directors Association APR awards ceremony Monday. The ceremony was held in conjunction with the FCS ADA scholarship luncheon at the NACDA Convention, held at the World Center Marriott Resort.
Rhode Island's football team had a 987 APR for the 2017-18 academic year. This was a 21-point improvement from the previous year. This was the biggest improvement of all teams in CAA Football. The Rams had 23 players named to the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll this season.
