INDIANAPOLIS - The second day of racing at the 2019 NCAA Women's Rowing Championship will be delayed slightly, with competition pushed back to 10 a.m. Saturday.
When competition resumes, each of Rhode Island's three boats will take aim at qualifying for the C Final in their respective flight. During today's competition, the top three finishers in each C/D semifinal flight will advance to the C Final, while the bottom three boats move on to the D Final.
In three previous trips to the NCAA Championship, no Rhody boat has ever qualified higher than the D Final. Last season, the Second Varsity 8+ placed 20th overall in its flight, the best finish ever by a URI boat.
Here is Saturday's schedule for the Rams:
- 11:00 a.m. - The 19th-seeded Varsity 8+ will race against 21st-seeded Northeastern, 18th-seeded UCF, 16th-seeded Duke and 13th-seeded Wisconsin.
- 11:20 a.m. - Rhody's Second Varsity 8+ is seeded 20th. It will compete against 18th-seeded Northeastern, 13th-seeded Harvard, 16th-seeded UCF and 19th-seeded Iowa.
- 12:30 p.m. - Like the V8+ boat, Rhode Island's Varsity 4+ is seeded 19th. Today it will race against 21st-seeded Gonzaga, 13th-seeded Wisconsin, 15th-seeded UCF and 17th-seeded Harvard.
