How it Happened
Rhode Island (1-3) could not slow down the Bowling Green offense, falling 9-1 in five innings Saturday evening at the Elon Softball Tournament.
The Rams took an early lead when Erika Yeager delivered a two-out RBI double in the top of the first. Bowling Green (8-1) came right back two in the bottom of the first. With three runs in the third and four more in the fourth to put the mercy rule into affect.

- Sophomore Erika Yeager doubled and drove in Rhody's lone run of the night. She is batting a team-high .500 (5-for-10) with three doubles and five runs batted in this season.

- Freshman Abigail Bates walked and scored Rhode Island's run. She has reached base safely in all four games this season, collecting three walks and two hits through four games.
- Redshirt sophomore Melanie Martire drew a pair of walks, while and freshman Abby Fenbert and sophomore Caileigh Holland each drew one walk.

18 – Rhode Island has shown patience at the plate early in the season, drawing 18 walks through four games. Last season the Rams averaged less than 2.4 walks per game.
Rhode Island heads to Madiera Beach, Fla. for five games next weekend. From Feb. 23-25, the Rams will face Eastern Michigan, Albany, Manhatten, Marist and Middle Tennessee.
