Rams Sweep Merrimack, 7-0

How It Happened
Rhode Island swept the competition in its first dual match of the season, defeating Merrimack 7-0 at the URI Tennis Complex Thursday afternoon. The match marked the first head-to-head match for the program with new coach Gordie Errnst.

Each player for the Rams (1-0) won their match in straight sets, with no player giving up more than five games in the process.

Freshman Sydney Chratian won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles, while Erin Chratian (No. 1 singles), Ariel Haber (No. 3) and Halah Davis (No. 4) each won while allowing their opponent to win three games or fewer. Also picking up singles victories were Tiara Higuchi at No. 2, Paulina Loredo at No. 6 and Paige Alshon, who won her exhibition match, 6-1, 6-1.
