Highlights from the Track
- Lotte Black finished 23rd in the mile in 4:48.46. Her time broke the previous record of 4:51.94 set by Kristen O'Connell in 1983. This is the third program record Black has broken this indoor season. She owns the indoor 800 meter record set on Jan. 26 at the Boston University Terrier Classic. Black's time of 2:08.80 passed Patti Douglas' previous time of 2:09.6 set in 1980. Her performance of 1:34.78 in the 600 meters at the season-opening Brown Alden Invitational is also a Rhode Island record.
- The Rhody 400 meter quartet of Greta Scott, Kristina MacLure, Mikaila Amerantes, and Kelly MacDonnell each recorded new personal bests in the event. Scott placed fifth (54.77s), MacLure was 10th (55.17s), Amerantes finished 15th (55.64s) and MacDonnell was 17th (55.84s).
- MacDonnell also finished 18th in the 200 meter dash (24.88s) and Amerantes was 48th (25.56s).
The Rams return to competition tomorrow to host the Annual URI Coaches Tribute. Field events are scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. Prior to the meet Rhode Island will honor 15 of its graduating seniors: Shelby Aarden, Mikaila Amerantes, Alyssa Brehler, Moira Collins, Carleisha Forteau, Lindsay Goulet, Saige Grazia, Elaina Hobbs, Katie McNulty, Keilan Nova, Sheila Plunkett, Natalie Sopchak, Sydney Sopchak, Bailey Thayer, and Leah Wolf.
