KINGSTON, R.I. - Junior Lotte Black was named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Team, the league announced Wednesday.
The Ambler, Pa. native made her first career appearance on the Academic All-Conference list. Black was crowned twice at the 2019 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship - in the mile and in the 1000 meter. Her winning time of 2:49.08 in the 1000 meter was an Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship meet record.
Black broke three school records this indoor season. She broke the 36-year-old record when she crossed the finish line in 4:48.46 in the mile at the David Hemery Valentine Invite on Feb. 5. Her time broke the previous record of 4:51.94 set by Kristen O'Connell in 1983. She also owns the indoor 800 meter record set on Jan. 26 at the Boston University Terrier Classic. Black's time of 2:08.80 passed Patti Douglas' previous time of 2:09.6 set in 1980. Her performance of 1:34.78 in the 600 meters at the season-opening Brown Alden Invitational is also a Rhode Island record.
Black is a double major in Kinesiology and Dietetics while maintaining a 3.93 GPA.
