KINGSTON, R.I. - Lotte Black was named the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track Performer of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
At the Princeton Larry Ellis Invitational on Saturday, Black broke the 1500 meter record she previously set earlier this outdoor season. Her new time of 4:17.28 leads the A-10, is currently 15th in the East Region and 25th in the country. This is the third record Black has broken in the outdoor season and sixth of the year.
Black owns the outdoor 800 meter record (2:08.08), set at the Raleigh Relays. Her time passed Amy Taylor's previous run of 2:09.29 set in 2000. She broke the 1500 meter record set by Hayley Madsen (4:31.72) in 2013.
In Black's indoor season, she set three school records. She broke the 36-year-old record when she crossed the finish line in 4:48.46 in the mile at the David Hemery Valentine Invite, she also owns the indoor 800 meter record set on Jan. 26 at the Boston University Terrier Classic, and her performance of 1:34.78 in the 600 meters at the season-opening Brown Alden Invitational is also a Rhode Island record.
This is Black's third career Performer of the Week recognition.
