Rams Fall to Dartmouth in Ram Classic Finals, 3-1

KINGSTON, R.I. - Jess Thomas tallied 19 kills and 21 digs to lead Dartmouth College to a 3-1 win over the University of Rhode Island in non-conference volleyball action at the Ram Classic Saturday afternoon at Keaney Gymnasium.

Morgan Covington added 15 assists for the Big Green, who improved to 5-2 with the win. Sophomore Caitlyn Welsh (Narragansett, R.I.) and freshman Lauren McIntosh (Colorado Springs, Colo.) each recorded 19 kills for the Rams, who slipped to 7-5.

The Rams captured game one, 30-28, before the Big Green rallied to take game two 30-23, game three 31-29, and game four 30-27.

Rams senior Kaira Kachadurian (Fresno, Calif.) notched a game-high 51 assists in the loss while Katie Hirsch had 49 for the Big Green.

Welsh earned All-Tournament Team honors, along with Amy Weigle (Texas State), Kacey Wimpy (Texas State), Lawrencia Brown (Texas State), Katie Hirsch (Dartmouth), Megan MacGregor (Dartmouth), and Lindsay Allman (Maine).

The Rams return to action this Tuesday when they travel to Boston to face Northeastern at 6 p.m.
