Reporting Process for Current Student-Athletes

The University of Rhode Island and the Athletics Department provide various processes for student-athletes to report allegations of misconduct or unlawful behavior experienced, witnessed, or that is otherwise affecting them and their well-being and personal experience. Below are the misconduct categories along with the applicable links for reporting allegations. The University's and the Athletics Department's processes for investigating allegations are outlined below.

Please be advised that, while you may file a report anonymously, we will not be able to follow up with you about the report and we may be limited in our ability to address the allegation effectively.

  • Bias-Based is an incident which has a negative effect on an individual or group and is based on or motivated by bias against race, color, national origin (includes language), sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, religion, disability, genetic information, age, pregnancy, and/or protected veteran.
  • Hazing is any action taken or situation created (the willingness of an individual to participate notwithstanding) upon which initiation, admission into, or affiliation with an organization is directly or indirectly conditioned and which is likely to produce mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule.
  • Sexual Misconduct includes sexual and gender-based discrimination, harassment and violence (including but not limited to sexual violence, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, intimate partner violence, stalking, and retaliation).
  • Threatening Misconduct includes verbal assault, physical assault, fear of safety, bullying, and intimidating behaviors that have a negative effect on an individual.
