Photos - Rhody Rowing at the NCAA Championship

KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island will participate in the NCAA Championship for the first time in school history Friday morning.

Due to expected poor weather, the start times of each race has been changed. The Rhode Island contingent will begin competition at 8:10 a.m. with the Varsity 8+ in Heat 4 of its bracket. The Second Varsity 8+ now will race at 8:50 a.m. and the Varsity 4+ will compete at 9:10 a.m. The top two boats in each heat advance to the semifinals.

The two-time defending Atlantic 10 champion Rams are one of 22 teams in the field. The Varsity 8+ boat is scheduled to race at 9:40 a.m. in a heat with fourth overall seed Virginia, fifth-seeded Michigan, Gonzaga and Wisconsin. Rhode Island is seeded 21^st in the field.

In the Second Varsity 8+, Rhody will race at 10:20 a.m. against fourth-seeded Brown, fifth-seeded Michigan, Navy, Stanford and Cornell.

Rhode Island's Varsity 4+ boat is seeded 18^th. The Rams will be in a heat with second-seeded Ohio State, seventh-seeded Princeton, Southern California, and Stanford.The top two boats in each heat advance to the semifinals.
