KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island looks to defend its Atlantic 10 championship this weekend at the conference races in Camden, N.J.

The Rams – who have won the A-10 title in 2012, 2010 and 2008 – are looking for the fourth league crown in program history. Last season, Rhode Island held off George Washington and Massachusetts to win the conference title. When the three schools met earlier this spring on Rhody's Narrow River, the Rams swept the races.

Of the 23 women on Rhode Island's top three boats for Saturday, 16 participated on the scoring boats at the 2012 A-10 championship.

This year's conference champion has the added bonus of earning the first NCAA automatic qualifier bid in league history. When the NCAA expanded its championship field to 22 teams, the Atlantic 10 became one of 11 conferences to receive an automatic bid. This year's NCAA Championship will be held at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis.
