Jessee Announces Seven New Rams in 2020 Signing Class

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island women's soccer head coach Megan Jessee has announced the incoming class of 2024. Seven student-athletes have made the decision to continue their academic and athletic futures with Rhode Island. Joining the new faces is also transfer Sydney Silverman, who Jessee announced the addition of Silverman in January.

"I am excited to welcome this class to the Ram Family this fall," said Jessee. "The addition of this group to the current roster will make this a very competitive team. This is an exciting time for our program as we have a good combination of players. I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do in 2020."


JORDYN ALLEN | MIDFIELD | 5-4 | PISCATAWAY, N.J. | PISCATAWAY HIGH | PSA NATIONAL 02

Before URI: Attended Piscataway High School... Soccer team captain for two years (2017-2019)... Named to the All-Conference Honorable Mention Team (2017)... All-GMC-Red division (2018)... All-Conference and All-GMC-Red division (2019)... Member of three club teams; PSA National 02 (2018-2020), NJ Wildcats Averbuch (2015-2018), and PSC Jaguars (2007-2014)... Scored 19 goals and recorded 24 assists in her high school career... Team captain for PSA National O2 (2019-2020)... With her club team, was the U.S. Club State Cup Champion in 2016 and 2017... Made it to the National Cup Final Four in 2017 and NPL Final Four in 2018... USYS Region I Champion in 2019... USYS National League Runner-Up in 2019... USYS Club V. Club League Runner-Up in 2019... Volunteered at Elks Lodge Shootout (2016-2017) and at Piscataway Fall Classic (2016-2017)... Member of the Honor Roll all four years

Personal: Born July 9... Daughter of Antoine and Nubeja... Has three sisters, Lela, Shae, and Antoinette... Her sister, Lela, currently plays soccer at Wagner... Her dad, Antoine, is a former basketball player at Saint Peter's University... Chose Rhode Island over Colgate, Manhattan, and Monmouth... Enjoys watching Netflix, going to the beach, hanging out with friends and family, playing soccer, and going to amusement parks... Decided on Rhode Island because "of the atmosphere I felt when I visited. Everyone speaks highly of the school and when I visited, I felt a welcoming, spirited, fun atmosphere that I could see myself being apart of. Also when I came on my official visit, I enjoyed the coaching staff and soccer team."... Favorite athlete is Julie Ertz... Favorite teams are the Philadelphia Eagles, FC Barcelona, and Chicago Red Stars... Expected to major in Psychology or Kinesiology with plans to be a physical therapist, athletic trainer, or therapist.

Jessee on Jordyn: I am excited to add Jordyn to the Ram family. She is a versatile player that can play in any position on the field. She is a smart, athletic and tough player that will be able to fill a number of different roles for us.


FRANCESCA D'AGOSTINO | FORWARD | 5-10 | LONGMEADOW, MASS. | LONGMEADOW HIGH | FSA FC

Before URI: Attended Longmeadow High School... Member of the varsity soccer team for all four years... Was the leading scorer for three years... Captained the team her senior year... Member of the club team FSA FC... Coached a fifth grade girls soccer team while she was in school.

Personal: Born March 18... Daughter of Joe and Teresa... Has one brother, Matteo, and two sisters, Damiana and Michelina... Her dad played soccer at Bowling Green and later played professionally with Dayton Dynamo AISA... Chose Rhode Island over Quinnipiac and New Haven... Interests include running... Decided on Rhode Island because of the location of the school, the academics, and the coaching staff... Favorite athlete is Paulo Dybala and favorite team is Chelsea FC... Majoring in Nursing with plans of becoming a dietitian.

Jessee on Francesca: Francesca is a dangerous forward. She likes to take defenders head on and get to goal. She is tough and athletic. She has a ton of potential to develop into a top level player.

 

 


ALYSSA FLEMING | MIDFIELD | 5-5 | MARSHFIELD, MASS. | MARSHFIELD HIGH | SOUTH SHORE SELECT

Before URI: Attended Marshfield High School and was a member of the soccer team for all four years, earning four varsity letters... Member of the South Shore Select for 12 years... Recorded 64 career points on 31 goals and 33 assists throughout high school... Was the Atlantic Coast League First Team All-Star for four years... Massachusetts All-State All-Star Team for three years... Earned the Certificate of Athletic Excellence by The Patriot Ledger All-Scholastics in 2016-2017... Eastern Massachusetts All-Star First Team for three years... Named Marshfield MVP midfielder and forward for three years... Captained the team her senior year... First Player of the Year for the South Shore Select.... Team accomplishments included NPL National Champions (2018), National Cup Finalists (2018), National Cup Champions (2017), and NPL National Finalists (2017)... Member of the National Honor Society... Was a Junior Coach for South Shore Select youth players and also coached Marshfield youth soccer... Worked at Lil' Munchkins Daycare... Was on the Honor Roll all four years of high school... Earned the academic achievement award for world language in her junior year.

Personal: Born November 27... Daughter of David and Kristin... Has one sister, Kylie... Chose Rhode Island over Boston College... Enjoys playing sports, going to the beach, and hanging out with friends... Favorite athlete is Tom Brady... Favorite teams are the USWNT and the New England Patriots... Decided on Rhode Island because the selection of majors, coaching staff, soccer program, and location... Majoring in Health Sciences with a minor in psychology with plans to become a physical therapist.

Jessee on Alyssa: Alyssa is a versatile player that will add to our midfield and forward line. She is a creative player with an eye for the back of the net. Alyssa comes from a great club team that will help her make an immediate impact at this level. I am excited to welcome her to the Ram Family.


SAM HAGERTY | FORWARD | 5-3 | WARWICK, R.I. | LA SALLE ACADEMY | BAYSIDE FC

Before URI: Attended La Salle Academy... Member of the soccer for four years on varsity... Captained the team her senior year... Back-to-back Rhode Island Interscholastic League State Champions (2017, 2018)... Rhode Island Interscholastic League All-Division Selections in 2018 and 2019... Rhode Island Interscholastic League All-State Selection in 2018 and 2019... Member of the 2018 RIIL All-Tournament Team... Member of the club team Bayside FC for three years... Bayside FC RI State Cup Champion in back-to-back seasons (2018, 2019)... Also member of the track team at La Salle Academy for four years, earning three straight State Championship titles in 2017, 2018, and 2019... All-East Coast Track and Field Team Selection for three straight years (2017, 2018, 2019)... Was a member of the honor roll all four years, and spent one year on the high honor roll... Participated in a number of extra-curricular activities, including Lasalian Youth Club, Sign Language Club, Best Buddies Walk Team, and the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Walk.

Personal: Born July 13... Daughter of Chris and Maryellen... Has three older brothers, Joseph, Patrick, and Robert, all of which either attend or attended URI... Chose Rhode Island over Holy Cross and American... Interests include watching movies and hanging out with friends... Favorite athlete is Alex Morgan... Favorite teams are the New England Patriots and the Boston Bruins... Decided on Rhode Island because of the "strong academics and the beautiful campus. Rhode Island offers Kinesiology and Physical Therapy programs which I'm interested in. The coaching staff and team was very friendly and welcoming, and I am excited to contribute. My family also has a legacy of URI graduates."... Majoring in Kinesiology with plans of becoming a physical therapist.

Jessee on Sam: I am excited to welcome Sam to the Ram family. Sam is a dynamic winger that likes to go at defenders. She will add another element to our forward line that we do not have yet. I am excited to she how Sam develops in this environment.


TESS O'CONNELL | MIDFIELD | 5-11 | WILMINGTON, MASS. | PINGREE SCHOOL | NEFC ELITE

Before URI: Attended Wilmington High School before finishing her junior and senior year at Pingree School... As a senior captain at Pingree, was named 2019 EIL Player of the Year, MVP, All-New England, All-State, All-NEPSAC, Salem News All-Star, and was named to both the Herald All-Scholastic Team and Boston Globe All-Scholastic Team... Completed the first undefeated league season in Pingree history her final year... Scored nine goals and had six assists her senior season and had eight goals and recorded three assists her junior year... Member of the NEFC Elite U18 club team for four years and was captain for three straight years... Named EIL All-Star in 2018... Earned League Scholastic All-Star (2017)... State Champion with NEFC Elite for three straight seasons (2017, 2018, 2019)... Won the National Cup in 2017 and 2019... Was a Special Olympics volunteer for four years... Also a member of the Pingree School Government.

Personal: Born March 10... Daughter of Tim and Kristina... Has two sisters, Callie and Elly... Chose Rhode Island over Lafayette, Saint Anselm, UMass Lowell, and Tufts... Hobbies include soccer, art, animals, traveling, boating, playing the violin, and food... Favorite athlete is Julie Ertz... Favorite team is the U.S. National Team... Decided on Rhode Island for the academic strength, soccer program, coaches, location, and overall fit... Majoring in Nursing with plans of becoming a pediatric nurse.

Jessee on Tess: Tess is a great holding midfielder. She will add a commanding presence with good vision on and off the ball. She has competed at the highest level in club soccer. That experience will give her the tools to compete right away for playing time.


CRISTINA SALLENT | MIDFIELD | 5-4 | MADRID, SPAIN | ENGAGE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL | MADRID CFF

Before URI: Attended Engage Independent School in Madrid, Spain... Member of Madrid CFF club team for six years and Las Rozas CF club team for six years... Was a finalist at the Donosti Cup in back-to-back seasons with Madrid CFF in 2018 and 2019... Champion of the Ciempozuelos Tournament in 2017... Spent four years as a goalkeeper before spending the last six years in her primary position as a midfielder... Also played tennis.

Personal: Born February 19... Daughter of Pedro and MariaJesus... Has one brother, Sergio, and one sister, Beatriz... Decided on Rhode Island because "I wanted to combine a high level sport and academic activities."... Interests include soccer, surfing, and sports in general... Favorite athlete is Luka Modric and favorite team is Real Madrid... Interested in majoring in economics.

Jessee on Cristina: Cristina is a great playmaker from Spain. She has the potential to come in and impact our team right away in our midfield. She has a unique vision and technical ability on the ball that I do not believe we have right now.

 

 


CARLY TRAVERS | GOALKEEPER | 5-10 | MANORVILLE, N.Y. | EASTPORT SOUTH MANOR HIGH | BRENTWOOD SC NPL 01

Before URI: Attended Eastport South Manor High School... Member of the varsity soccer team as a goalkeeper for four years... Captained the team for three seasons... Played in 70 games throughout her high school career and made 436 saves... Recorded 10 shutouts her senior year... Named All-League all four years... Earned All-Conference in 2017, 2018, and 2019... Named Suffolk County Goalkeeper of the Year (2019)... Varsity Soccer League Champions in 2018... Spent four years on the Brentwood SC NPL 01 club soccer squad... Three-time captain with Brentwood SC NPL 01... Back-to-back Eastern New York State Champions in 2018 and 2019... Also a member of the basketball team at Eastport South Manor for three years, winning the League Championship in two seasons (2018, 2019)... Captained the basketball team her senior year... Member of the National Honor Society, National World Language Honor Society-Spanish, and Varsity Leaders Club... Earned the AP Scholar Award her senior year... Named to the Principals Honor Roll all four years... Earned the Advanced Regents Diploma... Earned the American Sign Language Academic Excellence Award.

Personal: Born September 29... Daughter of Ed and Jaime.. Has one sister, Casey, who plays basketball for SUNY Cortland... Chose Rhode Island over FAU and Fairleigh Dickinson... Enjoys going to the beach and superheroes... Decided on URI because of "the coaches and the connection they made with me immediately as an athlete and a person. The more I learned about the program and expectations of the coaches, the more I knew it was the place where I could bring my game to the next level. There is such a great atmosphere and community on and surrounding the campus that I couldn't see myself wanting to go anywhere else."... Favorite Athlete is Peyton Manning... Favorite teams are the New York Rangers, New York Jets, and New York Yankees... Majoring in marketing with hopes of being in marketing and advertisement for professional sports.

Jessee on Carly: Carly is a good goalkeeper with a massive upside. She is athletic and has a great presence in the box. Carly will add depth and another element to our already quality group of goalkeepers.
