Rams Keep it Rolling, Win New England Championship

BOSTON, MASS. — Rhode Island continued its winning ways, winning a second championship in as many weeks. The Rams took home their second-straight New England Indoor title after collecting 121 team points. SCSU was second (85) and Massachusetts finished third (74). It was the 27th New England Championship the Rams won.

Results

SATURDAY

  • Kai Schmidt-Bilowith won the 60m hurdles in a time of 8.03 seconds.
  • Chris Tavarone finished second in the shot put, throwing 55' 11.75" for the podium finish.
  • Orion Joyner claimed the triple jump title with a mark of 47' 7". 
  • Rhode Island took the 1-2 in the high jump, after Matt Santy was crowned champion for clearing 6'5". John Santos also cleared 6' 5" for silver.
  • Damian Scouloukas finished fifth in the heptathlon after collecting 4536 points.
  • Alex Arbogast was fifth in the 60 meter final, crossing the finish line in 6.971 seconds.
  • Antonio Capalbo won his first 1000 meter title in 2:26.16. Adam Melnick finished fifth (2:29.69).
  • Liam Creeley finished fourth in the 200m (21.76s).

FRIDAY

  • Matt Santy was crowned champion in the long jump after a leap of 24' 3.5". Israel Henriques-Setho took home bronze with a mark of 23' 1.75".
  • Alexander Baez won the weight throw after marking 60' 8" for his first New England crown.
  • Nate Field also picked up points for the Rams in the weight throw, finishing sixth with a mark of 54' 7.25".
  • Mason Brubaker had a podium finish in the pole vault, clearing 15' 9.75" for third place. Neil Waldhausen (14' 11") and Damian Scouloukas (14' 11") also picked up points for Rhody, finishing sixth and seventh.
