KINGSTON, R.I. -- Rhode Island incoming freshman Orla Howlett will represent Team Ireland at The World Games 2025. The Games feature eight of the world's top women's lacrosse national teams in the dynamic sixes discipline from August 7-11 in Chengdu, China. It's the second straight year the Rams have an incoming freshman competing at The World Games. Last summer,
Kelsea Lawson played for Team Australia in Hong Kong.
"We are excited to keep some of the best lacrosse talent in Rhode Island at URI—and that is Orla," said Rhody lacrosse head coach
Jenna Slowey. "Her time with the Irish national team over the last few years is something I know she is immensely proud of. Playing at the highest level our sport has to offer has not only prepped her for the Division I stage, but has given her a once and a lifetime experience."
Ireland will make its World Games debut after a history of clutch wins. Ireland will compete in Pool B with Australia, Czechia and the United States. Ireland opens tournament play on Aug. 7 against the United States at 9 a.m. China Standard Time. Pool play will run from August 7-9, followed by semifinals and placement games on August 10 and medal games on August 11. For more schedules and how to watch The World Games 2025,
