RHODE ISLAND VS. DAYTON - Series notesÂ
- The Rams are back on the road Sunday to face the Dayton Flyers.
- It's the first trip to UD Arena for Rhody since the 2023-24 season. That year, the Rams picked up their first-ever win at Dayton, beating the Flyers 77-42.Â
- URI was 0-15 at UD Arena before that win.
- The Flyers are 27-8 all-time against Rhode Island, however the Rams have won the last four straight meetings with Dayton.
- The Flyers had a 19-game win streak in the all-time series with Rhody that dated back to the 2005 season. When the Rams snapped that streak and beat Dayton on Feb. 25, 2023, it was for a share of the Atlantic 10 regular season championship.
- A season ago, Rhody beat the Flyers 57-36 on Feb. 8, 2025.
- The Rams enter Sunday's game up winning their last 11 straight.Â
- Associate Head Coach Adeniyi Amadou spent four seasons on the Dayton coaching staff, where he helped lead the Flyers to back-to-back regular season Atlantic 10 titles in the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
- Last time out, Dayton snapped a two-game skid by defeating Duquesne 75-58 at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.
- The Flyers are 10-9 overall and 3-5 in conference.
- Dayton is 5-3 at UD Arena.
- The Flyers are led by guard Nayo Lear and her 15.7 points per game.
- Dayton women's basketball head coach Tamika Williams-Jeter is in her fourth season in charge of her hometown Flyers, coming over after a year at Wittenberg.Â
- She has assistant coaching stops at Kansas, Kentucky, Penn State, and Ohio State.Â
ROAD DAWWWWWWWGS
- Rhode Island defeated VCU 46-41 to stay undefeated in Atlantic 10 play and move to 8-1 on the road.Â
- It was the seventh straight road win for the Rams, who haven't lost a game away from Kingston since the game at Rutgers back on Nov. 13.
- URI stays on the road for its next two games, traveling to Dayton (Jan. 25) and Fordham (Jan. 31).Â
- Rhody's 8-1 road record is the best in program history.
ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY ON THE NATIONAL STAGE
- Rhode Island will be featured on national tv for the second time this season Sunday.
- The game at Dayton will be on CBS Sports Network with Jack Gordon and Erica Ayala on the call.
- The Rams beat Duquesne 70-50 last Sunday on USA Network in the first nationally televised contest of the season.
PROTECTING THE POSSESSIONS
- Ball security has fueled Rhode Island's success this season.Â
- Rhody leads the Atlantic 10 with 11.9 turnovers per game. The turnovers rank 10th nationally.
- In Rhody's win over Duquesne, URI committed eight turnovers, the sixth time this season the Rams have been in single digits for miscues.
