KINGSTON, R.I. — Rhode Island men's track and field had two named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic and eight on the All-Rookie Team, it was announced Tuesday.
The All-Rookie team is compromised of the top-rookie performer in each event from meets conducted from the start of the indoor regular season through the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship. The team was selected based off meet results submitted through the Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFFRS).
Sam Gott had the top finish in the 200m with his 21.70 seconds at the IC4A Championship.
Elias Sposato was the top rookie in the 400m, finishing in 47.55. seconds at the A-10 Championship.
In the 60m hurdles, Lucas Andrade had the top finish with a time of 7.91 seconds at A-10's.
Josia Katrol had the top mark in the high jump from his A-10 Championship finish (6'11"), while Carson Dean's pole vault finish from the URI Coaches Invitational sat atop the rookie ranks (15' 11.25").
Arnaud Sioho had the best triple jump leap among rookies (50' 2", URI Coaches Invitational).
In the weight throw, Brandon Wolfenden led the way for rookies with a 52' 2.5" throw at the URI Coaches Invitational.
Miles Lipka's 5235 point performance in the heptathlon at the IC4A Championship was the top in the conference among first years.
The Rams had a pair named to the All-Academic Team in Nick Martin and Matt Santy.
