RHODE ISLAND AT THE ATLANTIC 10 TOURNAMENT - Series notes 

  • Rhode Island heads to Henrico for the Atlantic 10 Championship as the No. 1 seed. 
  • The hunt for Rhode Island's first Atlantic 10 Tournament crown starts Friday at 11:00 a.m. when the Rams play Loyola Chicago.
  • Historically, Rhody is 20-37 at the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
  • Head coach Tammi Reiss is 5-6 at the conference tournament. After starting her career 0-3 at A-10's, Reiss has been 5-3 since 2023.
  • Rhode Island is 7-16 all-time in the Quarterfinal round.
  • The Rams have never won an Atlantic 10 Tournament title. 

SCOUTING THE RAMBLERS

  • No. 8 Loyola Chicago finished the regular season with a 13-16 overall record, including a 9-9 slate in Atlantic 10 action.
  • The Ramblers are led by the duo of Alex-Anne Bessette (11.2 ppg)  and Alexus Mobley (11.2 ppg). 
  • Loyola Chicago heads into its fourth appearance at the Atlantic 10 Championship as the No. 8 seed. 
  • The Ramblers had their first tournament victory since defeating No. 9 Fordham in 2023-24 after they beat the Bonnies last time out.
  • Bessette was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Third Team and All-Rookie Team after a stellar freshman campaign.
  • Bessette paces the Ramblers in total blocks (24) and scoring.

NO. 1 SEED SECURED

  • Rhode Island will be the top seed at the 2026 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship, the conference announced Saturday.
  • The Rams won their second regular-season title in four years by knocking off George Washington 72-48 on Feb. 28. Rhody and George Mason finished with 16-2 records, but URI beat the defending conference champions in the lone head-to-head matchup during the regular season to earn the tiebreaker.
  • URI earned a double bye in the tournament. Rhode Island will play the winner of No. 8 Loyola Chicago and No. 9. St. Bonaventure on Friday, March 6 at 11 a.m. The game will air nationally on the USA Network. 
  • ESPN+ will stream Wednesday's first round doubleheader and Thursday's second round games. The quarterfinals will air on USA Networks on Friday, with Saturday's semifinals taking place on CBS Sports Network. 
  • The championship final will tip-off at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, with Courtney Lyle and Carolyn Peck on the call for the nationally-televised ESPN2 broadcast.
