David Meiklejohn joined Gareth Elliott's staff as the goalkeepercoach in July of 2013.

Meiklejohn comes to Rhode Island from Georgia State, where heworked with the goalkeepers in 2012. A native of Woodbridge,Va., Meiklejohn played a key role for both of GSU's goalkeepers, ashe helped Vincent Foermer establish a school record 1.14 goalsagainst average. When Foermer missed time due to injury, redshirtfreshman C.J. Cochran stepped in and went 5-2-1, including fourshutouts and a 0.61 GAA.

While in Atlanta, he also coached for the Concorde Fire Academy,where he worked with the USSDA men’s U-16 and U-18 teams, aswell as the women’s ECNL programs. 

Before joining GSU, Meiklejohn was an assistant coach under 2010Region III Boys Soccer Coach of the Year Ted Erickson atHarrisonburg High School in Harrisonburg, Va. Meiklejohn helpedHarrisonburg win the regular season district and region IIIchampionship in 2010 with a 16-3-1 record. Meiklejohn was a keycontributor in the development of Ty Armentrout, a First-TeamAll-District player in 2010. The team also went 14-2 and wonanother district championship in 2011.

Meiklejohn was a four-year player for James Madison of theColonial Athletic Association, playing from 2007-11. He served asteam tri-captain in 2010 for the Dukes. Meiklejohn graduatedfrom James Madison in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in kinesiologywith a concentration in sports and recreation management. He alsoearned a business minor. 

Meiklejohn is the son of Caroline and Brian Meiklejohn and has asister, Amanda, who played field hockey at Christopher NewportUniversity.
