Biography

2018 (Freshman):

  • Did not appear in any games for the Rams.

Before URI

  • Was a member of the soccer and baseball teams at Randolph High School.
  • Captained his soccer team as a senior.
  • Was a three-year starting goalkeeper, combining for a 42-12-6 record with 392 saves, 27 shutouts and a 0.83 goals against average.
  • Helped lead Randolph to the 2016 Morris County Championship - the school's first county title in 20 years... Made 18 saves in the title game - a double-overtime affair - and stopped two penalty kicks in the shootout to win it for his team.
  • Was honored as the Morris County Championship MVP while the Star Ledger named his team the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference Team of the Year for 2016.
  • As a senior, was an NSCAA Regional All-American in addition to earning NJAC All-Conference, MCSCA All-County and SCANJ All-State First Team accolades.
  • Also was named Morris County Player of the Year and received Player of the Year honors from the Daily Record News as well as Muggs Media.
  • Played club soccer for Randolph Soccer Club and Mt. Olive Premier Villa and trained twice a week with PDA Academy goalkeepers.
  • Made the honor roll every marking period from his freshman year through his senior year.
  • Did volunteer work preparing and serving food to the homeless, collecting donations for local food shelters, distributing clothing to those in need and working with underprivileged children.
  • Also has participated in fundraisers benefitting St. Jude's Children's Hospital as well as breast cancer and lung cancer research centers.

Personal

  • Born June 11, 1999.
  • Son of Lisa and John Miele, who was a goalkeeper at East Stroudsburg University from 1986-90.
  • Has a younger sister, Alexandra.
  • His cousin, Pete Zoccolillo, played baseball at Rutgers from 1996-99 and went on to a professional career with the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs.
  • Also has a great-uncle, Samuel Russo, who was a AA pitcher for the Chicago White Sox in the 1960s.
  • Enjoys basketball, football, baseball, refereeing basketball and traveling.
  • Favorite athlete is Tim Howard.
  • Favorite teams are Liverpool and the New York Red Bulls, Giants and Yankees.
  • Plans to major in Criminology/Criminal Justice.
  • Hopes to pursue a career with the FBI.
