Megan Straumann joined the Rhode Island coaching staff as a graduate assistant in September of 2015.

A two-year captain for Rhode Island during her playing career, Straumann finished as the school's fourth-leading 3-point shooter. Before a career-ending injury her senior season, she was averaging 8.3 points and 2.3 steals per game while shooting .392 from beyond the arc. She was named URI's recipient of the 2015 Rhode Island Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Distinguished Athletes of the Year honor.

Straumann spent the second half the 2015-16 season as an intern with the Rhode Island coaching staff. Following the season, she was accepted into the presitious Women's Basketball Coaches Association 'So You Want to be a Coach' program. Each year, 50 women are selected to participate in the program, which assists female collegiate players who are interested in pursuing a career in coaching women's basketball. Participants are provided with professional development, networking and career advancement opportunities as part of the WBCA's National Convention. 

Straumann earned her bachlor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies in 2015.
