Daniel Brizard

Daniel Brizard begins his fourth season as an assistant coach with the University of Rhode Island women's soccer program in 2016-17.

Before Kingston, he spent four seasons as the head coach at Tennessee Tech.

Prior to his time at Tennessee Tech, Brizard spent five seasons as an assistant at LSU, forging his reputation as one of the top goalkeeping coaches in collegiate soccer. During his tenure in Baton Rouge, Brizard helped guide the Tigers to three consecutive SEC Western Division Championships and three appearances in the NCAA Tournament. LSU was the top defensive unit in the SEC and posted goals against averages of 0.82 in 2008 and 0.71 in 2009. Under his tutelage, Mo Isom became the first LSU goalkeeper to earn All-America honors.

Brizard has also spent time on the Olympic Development Team coaching staff as both director and coach. He served as the Region III Goalkeeper Director from 2000-2009, then served as a goalkeeper coach for the Development Team in Region II from 2009-2011. Most recently Brizard served as the goalkeeper coach for Region I in 2014-2015.

Brizard spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Florida International (2002-05), South Alabama (2000-02), and Missouri-St. Louis (1998-2000), while also serving as coach of the girl's soccer team at Parkway West High School in St. Louis.

A former goalkeeping instructor for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), he received an NSCAA Premier Diploma. He also holds a United States Soccer Federation "A" Coaching License and Goalkeeping license.

A 1995 graduate of Berry College, Brizard was a four-year starter and team captain on the men's soccer team. He earned his bachelor's degree in sports performance/exercise science from Berry in 1995 and spent two years in the Navy before beginning his coaching career in 1997.

Brizard and his wife Julie are the proud parents of their daughter Izabella.
