KINGSTON, R.I. - Freshman
Jake Cullen earned his second Atlantic 10 award of the 2025 season, collecting Rookie of the Week honors on Monday afternoon.
The right hander, who was tabbed Pitcher of the Week back on March 11, is the Rams' first arm to earn multiple weekly nods since Matt Murphy did so in 2017.
Cullen received the recognition on the heels of a 1-0 week that saw him make a start and a brief appearance out of the bullpen. The Rams' Sunday starter threw 1.0 scoreless inning of relief at Bryant, retiring all three batters he faced, before resuming his weekend duties opposite Dayton.
With a series sweep on the line, Cullen pitched a career-high 7.0 innings in Rhody's 8-1 victory over the Flyers. He allowed one run on four hits and issued two walks while striking out as many batters. The Westford, Mass. native retired seven straight at one point in what went in the books as his first quality start.
Rhode Island's wins over Dayton put the team at the top of the Atlantic 10 standings with four weeks left in the regular season.
