Women's Soccer Notches 1-0 Win Over Temple

KINGSTON, R.I. - The University of Rhode Island women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 victory against Temple in an Atlantic 10 contest in Philadelphia, Pa., on Friday evening.

Rhode Island out shot Temple 5-2 in a defensive battle between the two teams. URI scored the only goal of the contest in the 74th minute when freshman Claire Landon scored her first collegiate goal, an unassisted tally, to give the Rams the 1-0 victory.

Senior Kate Hirsch had two saves in goal for Rhode Island for her fifth shutout of the season while Jackie Mauro had four stops for Temple.

Rhode Island, 8-4-1, 3-2-0 in the Atlantic 10, will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 21 when they travel St. Joseph's for an A-10 contest at 1:00 p.m.
