KINGSTON, R.I. -- Rhode Island women's soccer head coach Megan Jessee announced the addition UConn transfer Syrai Parker. The goalkeeper arrives in Kingston after spending the last two seasons in Storrs, helping the Huskies capture the 2024 Big East championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament, reaching the Round of 32.
A New Jersey native, the transfer starred at Rutgers Prep under head coach Jim Buchanan and played club with PDA ECNL. She earned All-State honors in 2023 and was named to the United Coaches Association All-Central Region Team. That season, she allowed just nine goals - the fewest in the state of New Jersey - and was recognized as a New Jersey Top 100 Senior.
She secured two NJSIAA Non-Public B state championships (2022–23), two South Non-Public B sectional titles, and membership on Rutgers Prep's first-ever Somerset County championship team in 2023. She was a First Team All-State selection, the state's top save leader in 2023, and earned NJ Top 20 and North 2 Top 20 honors from the New Jersey Girls Soccer Coaches Association in 2024.
"I'm excited that Syrai is joining the Rhody women's soccer family," said Jessee. "She is a very athletic goalkeeper that has the ability to make big time saves and will bring a lot of good college level experience to our program. She will add even more depth to a great goalkeeper group. Excited for her to join the team in the spring."
