KINGSTON, R.I. - Sophomore Melanie Kasparek (Trumbull, Conn.) scored two goals to lead the University of Rhode Island women's soccer team to a 3-0 win over St. Bonaventure on Friday at the URI Soccer Complex.

It was the third time this season Kasparek has scored two goals in a game and she now leads the Rams with 10 goals this fall. The Rams (6-7-2, 4-3-1 Atlantic 10) are undefeated in their last four games, having won three and tied one. With the loss, the Bonnies dropped to 5-12-0, 3-5-0 in the Atlantic 10.

Kasparek took a pass from freshman Molly Parkhurst (Cranston, R.I.) and beat the keeper from six yards out to put the Rams up 1-0 in the 19th minute.

With just under eight minutes remaining in the first half, sophomore Laura Forgione (Southington, Conn.) lofted a high shot from outside the 18-yard box that went over the keeper's head to give the Rams a 2-0 lead at the half. It was Forione's first goal of her collegiate career.

Kasparek scored her second goal of the game on an assist from senior Sarah Johnston (New Britain, Pa.) in the 78th minute.

The Rams dominated play, out-shooting the Bonnies 20-3 and took eight corner kicks to St. Bonaventure's five.

Freshman Melissa Bartione (Doylestown, Pa.) and sophomore Kirsten Marra (Wallingford, Conn.) combined on the shutout in goal for Rhode Island. Marra made one save in the second half.

The Rams return to action on Sunday when they host Duquesne at 1 p.m. at the URI Soccer Complex. The match is the Rams' last at home this season and seven seniors will be honored in a pre-game ceremony.
