How it Happened
The Rams shut out St. Bonaventure with a dominant offensive showing to earn their second Atlantic 10 win Sunday.
Rhode Island came out swinging, putting three shots on goal in the first 10 minutes. Forward McKenna Sylvester broke through after powering past a Bonnies defender and going one-on-one with goalkeeper Adelaide Paredes. Paredes was caught too far off her line, and Sylvester blasted a shot past her for the score.
In the 26th minute, Sylvester struck again. This time she finished a cross from Lauren MacDonald, tucking the ball past Paredes for her first career two-goal game.
MacDonald added a goal of her own in the second half. Bonnies goalkeeper Jael Schubert, who replaced Paredes after halftime, dove for a loose ball but MacDonald got a touch and capitalized on the miscue.
After MacDonald's goal, the Rams made a change in net, bringing in graduate goalkeeper Abby McCarthy for Dani Eden. McCarthy preserved the shutout with one save to send URI home with the win.
