KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island senior forward Melanie Kasparek scored her tenth goal of the season in-route to the Ram's, 2-1, victory over Massachusetts in Atlantic-10 women's soccer action Saturday.
URI (7-4-1, 3-0-0) remains undefeated in A-10 play, while handing Massachusetts (5-6-1, 2-1-0) its first conference loss of the season.
Sophomore midfielder, Thorunn Jonsdottir scored the Rams second goal with 12:26 left in regulation on a free kick from 20-yards out.
Massachusetts put its point on the board nine minutes later on penalty kick from Lindsey Bellini.
The Rams out shot the Minutewomen 20-11 with a 14 to five shot on goal advantage.
Ria Carroll, senior goalkeeper for the Rams picked-up her seventh win of the season with four saves on the day.
Rhode Island women's soccer continues its three-game home stand on Friday (Oct. 14) as it plays host to A-10 newcomer St. Louis (8-3-0, 3-0-0). Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the URI soccer complex.
