RAMS AND WILDCATS ADVANCE TO CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AT URI INVITATIONAL

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island (1-2) advances to the Championship game at the URI Invitational after defeating in-state rival Brown (1-2), 75-71. Villanova (3-0) also advances to the championship game with a, 60-49 win over Mississippi (3-1). Brown and Mississippi will meet in the consolation round at noon on Saturday (Nov.26). Then for only the second meeting between the two, the Rams and the Wildcats will face-off at 2:00 p.m.

In her first game back in action, senior Tanya Rhodes recorded a double-double with 21 points and a game leading 13 rebounds. Rhodes also notched a game leading four steals on the day. Sophomore Safi Mojidi led all scorers with 22 points and had three steals of her own.

Brown had four players score in double digits for the game. Colleen Kelly led the Bears with 18 points. Kelly was followed closely by Ashley King-Bischof with 17. Sarah Hayes and Amy Ehrhart both scored a dozen for the Bears.

Villanova's Jackie Adamshick led all scorers with 24 points and notched the double-double with ten boards. Adamshick hit 4-7 from behind the arch. The Wildcats were 32 percent from long-distance. Liad Suez-Karni scored 18 points on the day, including going 5-6 from the line.

Armintie Price led the Lady Rebels with 14 points and 11 rebounds for her 31st career double-double. Price also led all players with three steals.

URI Invitational action continues Saturday (Nov. 26) at noon as the Brown Bears and the Mississippi Lady Rebels battle for third, followed by the battle for the championship between the Rhode Island Rams and the Villanova Wildcats.
