WOMEN'S SOCCER SHUTS OUT ST. BONAVENTURE, 5-0

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island women's soccer (5-4, 1-0) notched its second shutout of the season, 5-0, over St. Bonaventure (1-8, 0-1) Friday night at the URI soccer complex. Ram goalkeepers Ria Carroll and Kirsten Marra share the shutout with a combined nine saves on the night.

The Rams out shot the Bonnies 24 to 12, with 16 shots on goal. Freshman Dora Larusdottir led the team with five shots (four on goal), two goals and one assist. Debra Nelson had three assists on the night.

Senior Melanie Kasparek put the Rams on the board 13 minutes and 24 seconds in to the game, scoring her eighth goal of the season.

Megan Kasparek scored the second goal off a St. Bonaventure goalie deflection 20 minutes into the game.

Kayla Reels served up the assist to Becca Fish, with six minutes left in the first half to give the Rams the 3-0 advantage.

Larusdottir scored her first goal of the game less than two minutes into the second half of play. She found the back of the net from ten yards out shooting across the goal.

Four minutes later Larusdottir scored the final goal of the game. Nelson served Larusdottir the ball and she chipped it over the goalie for Ram goal number five.

Rhode Island women's soccer team will play its next conference game on Sunday against Fordham (6-4, 0-1). The game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the URI Soccer Complex.
