Women's Soccer Drops 2-1 Decision At Saint Louis

SAINT LOUIS, Mo. - The Rhode Island women's soccer team jumped out to an early lead, but was unable to hold on as they fell to Saint Louis, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon, October 29. With the loss, Rhody ends the regular season with a 11-9-0 overall mark and a 7-2-0 conference record.

 

The Rams took the lead in the 20th minute when sophomore Dora Larusdottir (Reykjavic, Iceland) scored on a pass from junior Deb Nelson (Chepachet, R.I.) for her fifth goal of the season. SLU notched the equalizer with 15 seconds remaining in the half as Lauren Bozesky sent a pass from Mary Green to the far post, tying the score at 1-1.

 

Rhody was outshot, 9-1, in the second half and the Billikens tallied the game winner at 75:23 when Julia Bradenberg angled a pass from Courtney Hulcer past Rhode Island's freshman goalkeeper Amanda Thomas (State College, Pa.) for the 2-1 win.

 

In all, Saint Louis outshot Rhode Island, 15-6, and held a 10-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Billikens also out-cornered the Rams, 5-3.
