Rhode Island Drops 2-0 Decision at Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio -- Rhode Island dropped a 2-0 decision at Dayton this afternoon in an Atlantic 10 women's soccer matchup.

It is just the second time in 12 matches that the Rams were held scoreless.

Dayton got on the board first in the 23rd minute on an unassisted goal from seven yards out, which beat URI goalkeeper Jackie Fede. UD added a second score in the 78th minute, finding the back of the net off the inside post from 35 yards out.

For the game, the Flyers outshot Rhody, 19-7, while taking eight corner kicks to just four for the Rams.

Fede made nine saves in goal for Rhode Island, allowing two scores. Niki Reed had five stops for Dayton.

With the loss, Rhode Island falls to 7-3-2 overall on the season and 2-1-1 in A-10 play.

URI returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 11 when it travels to Amherst, Mass. to take on Massachusetts at 4 p.m.
