MIAMI, Fla. - The University of Rhode Island baseball team travels to Miami, Fla. to kick off the 2007 season with a four-game series against Florida International, beginning Friday at 7:00 p.m. The series continues through the weekend with a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday and a 1:00 p.m. start on Sunday.
Junior right-hander Brett Palanski is set to take the mound in the series opener while FIU's freshman right-hander Corey Lozano will handle pitching duties for the Panthers. Senior left-hander Adam Perkins and junior right-hander Jamie Degidio are scheduled to get starts on Saturday with senior right-hander James Norcott taking the mound on Sunday.
Friday's game will be the second meeting between the two teams, with the Florida International picking up an 11-2 win over the Rams on March 3, 2006.
The 2007 Rams will feature 11 newcomers and 16 returners, including six position starters and five pitchers, from last season's squad which captured URI's fourth-consecutive Atlantic 10 regular-season title.
