Box Score

PHILADELPHIA -- Stephanie Santos tallied the lone Rhode Island goal in a 4-1 loss at La Salle on Sunday afternoon in an Atlantic 10 women's soccer contest.

Santos found the back of the net for her team-leading fifth goal, as Kaylen Shimoda assisted. The goal came in the 72nd minute of the match for the Rams (6-11-1, 2-7 A-10).

The Explorers' (8-7-3, 4-3-2 A-10) Alex Conley tallied two goals in less than a three minute span in the first half. Her first score came at the 25:22 mark, as she controlled a rebound from URI goalkeeper Jackie Fede on the right side of the box, and put it in on the left. Just 2:33 later, Conley put on a shot on net from 18 yards out, left to right. La Salle would take a 2-0 lead into the break.

After Santos' tally made it 2-1 with just over 18 minutes to play, La Salle would tack on two more scores to put the game out of reach.

At the 76:00 mark, Melanie Gamble scored on a penalty kick. Just 1:34 later, she would finish off the day's scoring, from a pass from Traci DePasquale.

La Salle outshot the Rams, 16-10 - as both teams put seven shots on-goal. Santos has three shots on-goal for URI.

Fede, who returned to goal for Rhode Island, made four stops in net. Melissa Sanger (84:31) and Amy Grant (5:29) combined to make six saves for the Explorers.

Rhody closes out the 2008 regular season next weekend in Kingston, as it hosts Charlotte on Friday, Oct. 31 and Saint Louis on Sunday, Nov. 2.
