KINGSTON, R.I. -- Freshman Erese Fair tallied a goal and three assists, as Rhode Island notched a 6-0 victory over Manhattan on Sunday afternoon at the URI Soccer Complex. It is the third straight shutout victory for Rhode Island, which improved to 2-1 at home on the season.

Fair tallied her first collegiate goal in the 85th minute, taking a deflection off Manhattan goalkeeper Alyssa Bachowski and putting it into the left side of the net. The Northport, N.Y. native also tallied the helper on two goals in the first half and one in the second.

Stephanie Santos got the Rams' scoring going in the 8th minute (7:59). The newcomer from Warwick, R.I. took a pass from Kassandra Spitler into the box and placed her shot to the lower right, past Lady Jasper GK Caitlin Trupiano.

Adrienne Ruhe Lischke posted her team-best fourth goal of the season in the 24th minute, as Fair fed her off an entry pass from the goal line. Ruhe Lischke fired a shot to the lower right, making it 2-0 Rams early on. It marks the third straight game in which the Kitchener, Ontario native has scored a goal and the fifth consecutive game in which she has tallied at least one point.

Agnes Arnadottir scored her second goal of the season - and URI's third of the game - just under two minutes later, taking a corner kick from Fair and finding the back of the net. Rhode Island led, 3-0, at the break.

In the second half, after Manhattan subbed in Alyssa Bachowski into goal, the Rams tacked on three more scores.

After a foul in Rhode Island territory yielded a free kick on the right side, Fair put a pass to Courtney David's foot on the left side of the box in the 66th minute (65:23). After a goal for Fair in the 85th minute made it, 5-0, Rams, Becca Fish added the sixth and final score just 1:06 later.

Fish, seeing her first action of the 2008 season, scored off a nice touch pass from Mary Kate Krol, toeing it into the left side for her first points of the season for both players.

For the game, URI held a 16-11 advantage in shots - including a 9-5 edge in shots on goal. Jackie Fede made five stops for the Rams, tallying her third shutout victory of the season.

Manhattan attempted six corner kicks to Rhody's five, while URI was whistled for 14 fouls to the Jaspers' nine.

Rhode Island opens up Atlantic 10 play on Friday, Sept, 26 in Kingston, hosting Saint Joseph's at 7 p.m.
